Opera House
The Sarasota Opera House endeavors to present a fine variety of classic master pieces.
Van Wezel.
Breath-taking performances are presented at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. The building itself, of Floridian Pink, is of a unique architecture.
A popular "Salute to Vienna" performance is now a tradition that marks the new year's celebration.
Theaters
Classic and modern pieces are performed in the various theaters in town. These include primarily the Asolo Theater, the Players Theater and the Manatee Players Riverfront
Theater. Major theater pieces may also be played at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
The Golden Apple Dinner Theater offers dinner and wine before the performances.
Cultural Groups
There are numerous cultural groups in town. Participation is mostly based on membership, but guests are usually welcome.
Ringling Museum
The Ringling Museum of Art, built by John Ringling is a gigantic piece of art in itself, built along classic architecture.
In addition to periodically changing displays, the permanent exhibition covers an impressive collection of magnificent pieces from the masters such as Peter Paul Rubens,
Nicholas Poussin, Franz Hals, Diego Velasquez, Jean Tassel, Jacob Jordaens, to name just a few.
The bronze statue of David, standing in the Museum Park, has been made from a mold of Michelangelo's original masterpiece.
Circus Museum
When visiting the Ringling Museum of Art, do make it a point to visit the Circus Museum.
You will be amazed to discover the gigantic organization and facilities of the Ringling-Barnum Circus, which was the world's largest circus.
The Municipal Auditorium houses regular cultural events, including exhibitions and fairs.
